Rare Antique Johnson Bros. England "Oxford" 12" Flow Blue Platter with Gold Metallic Trim. 12-1/2" Length x 9-1/4" Width x 1-1/4" Height Printed Maker's Mark from 1913 forward.

Overall a fantastic platter with no cracks or chips! Minimal utensil wear on front and moderate shelf wear on back sole. Crazing throughout.

Johnson Bros, Hanley Ltd Hanley Tunstall 1883 to 2003 Earthenware and Sanitary ware manufacturers at a number of factories in Hanley and Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent, England.

There were four 'Johnson Brothers' - Alfred, Frederick, Henry and Robert - sons of Robert Johnson and grandsons of the famous Meakin pottery family lineage. In 1883 Alfred and Frederick took over the Charles Street Works, Hanley from Pankhurst & Co. and began manufacturing durable earthenware, which they called 'White Granite'. In 1888 by their brother Henry joined the business. In addition to manufacturing white ware, they began producing under-glaze transferware for which they became famous.
